This rifle was made by Kent Smith at Augusta Gunworks and Forge. It's patterned after several Christian Springs rifles most notably the Oerter Griffin rifle but more generally copied after several rifles from that shop. It has a 54 caliber, 38 inch c-wt Rice swamped barrel, Chambers Dale Johnson lock with a sugar maple stock and brass hardware from Reaves Goehring.
It is in near new condition; having been finished by Smith less than two years ago. The Sugar Maple stock was carved from a blank; not made on a duplicator like most custom long rifles. It features beautiful Moravian-style carvings; most notably the "winged lion" on the butt stock. The stock is in excellent condition with absolutely no damage anywhere.
The lock was nicely finished and provides a beautiful shower of sparks with ever pull of the trigger. The cock holds solid on both full and half cock.
The barrel is in excellent condition inside and out with no rust or pitting anywhere.
The furniture was custom cast by Reaves Goehring and is nicely inletted.
